It's our first year at Dwight (Reception, Lower School) and we couldn't be happier. Our daughter has adjusted very well (she is a very shy, summer born four year old) and she loves school. She is learning so much without even realising that, thanks to the learning through play approach. The teachers are very supportive and we love the diversity of both the students and the staff. It's a very friendly, caring place and we would really recommend Dwight to other parents.
We're in our eighth year at Dwight and are very pleased with the level of teaching provided. My children are happy and look forward to going to school everyday not only becuase of the great mixture of friends from around the world but because of the experience of the IB programs which has enriched their education and our lives as a whole. Dwight's dedication to providing the best and to always do better gives me the encouragement to stay in this school.
When I came back to London, I wanted to get experience in a UK school. Dwight gave me the opportunity. Friendly staff, safety, small sized classes, students behave well and excellent support for SEN students.
One of the best schools I have been to but the fees are way too high this school is quite overpriced when paying fees but the people are great and kind and teachers care so much about the students
I attended this school from 2014-2016. There were a few good things, such as SOME friendly staff who cared. However, there was a lot of negatives.For example, I felt lied to about the benefits and problems with the IB. I was originally told that it would be very beneficial for me, even though I wanted to study maths and science. This however, was not the case. After doing some of my own research, I found out that it was harder to do well in the IB due to having to achieve a level 6 in HIGHER level maths (which would be the equivalent of an A in further maths) compared to what most universities want from A levels, being a A in normal maths. Unfortunately, I only found out about this at the start of my third year, even though it was incredibly important to my future success.Another issue that I had with the school was the total lack of learning support. When I moved to my new school, I was quickly assessed for any concerning issues, such as dyspraxia which has lead me too being allowed to use a laptop for my gcses. However, in dwight I was given no support to get help, and in many classes I was not even allowed to use it and often discouraged. This has lead to me being discouraged in many subjects due to receiving poor results that could have been improved if I had the correct support.Additionally, the lack of organization was appalling. For example, when my parents originally applied for me to seek learning support help in 2014 and then informed the school I was leaving in 2016, we found out that a majority of the staff had no idea that my parents had even applied to get these issues solved! When my parents were having meetings with the staff, weeks before I left, over potential help with learning issues and generally academic support, we were informed of "e assessments" that dwight was pioneering, however, unfortunately, the results were terrible but we were informed that it was because of "e assessments" and not any issues to do with the school teaching and organisation. However, apparently in the 2017-2018 class, the school have not even bothered with the MYP assessment, making me feel not only grateful that I am not stranded on this burning ship, but regretful, that all the hard work i had put in at that school, would have eventually gone to nothing, as I wouldn't even be taking assessments.There was a lack of support of MYP students at dwight. For example,only after having to request our own personal meetings with staff over my academics we were informed of issues were textbooks were not even available that were for our age/curriculum, and after researching ourselves, we found this to be true. On the one hand, this was 100% out of Dwight's control, but on the other hand, the total lack of transparency was appalling.Finally, there is the glaring issues of teacher quality control. Whilst we had many great teachers who had a true passion for teaching, we also had teachers who frankly couldn't care less about students. For example, we had teacher's with the audacity to call flicking through power points and answering our questions with "you should've paid attention" is insulting. Parents have paid lots to send their children to a school where their child would be fostered, however, there was a total lack of this in some classes. Additionally, there was a case of a teacher who blatantly insulted a student for struggling to read something.In conclusion there were some good aspects to the school, however, I felt as if my time there was wasted, as well as my money. Thankful I left and my future did not have the same fate.
