Nice, family friendly pub/restaurant. Nice food.
Excellent food but this was detracted from by other not so excellent issues. Lighting a bit too subdued for comfort when out with friends. The serving of the food was rather odd; desserts were brought to the table before anything else, declined but then evidently rehashed at the correct time (by then melted ice cream or cold), or where some people ordered starters as well as mains, the starters were served at the same time as those who had gone for mains only (rather than serving and finishing starters before serving all mains together). Also meals were served very staggered, so if everyone had waited until everyone in the party had food in front of them, the food would be cold. We had to enquire as to the whereabouts of one very late meal as we hadnt been told there was a delay or it was on its way. When a comment about this was put to the staff they said it was because we had ordered our meals at different times!! We had ordered in the usual manner for a group of people. Food was brought to the table without cutlery and when it was asked for we were told to collect it from a cabinet ( we werent told to do so when we ordered the food). The service definitely needs improving whilst the food was generally very good quality.
First time here for a quick lunch on the way to an appointment ...staff were extremely lovely and helpful when ordering and soup and sandwiches..(ciabattas) were outstanding. We will definitely go back here
Terrible experience for my friends and I. A member of staff completely disregarded our complaints and instead of rectifying the situation, verbally abused us. This particular member of staff was yelling at us for about 5 minutes, and I was later horrified to discover that he was indeed the head manager! Disgusting! He then proceeded to disrespect his staff in a similar manner. Never in my life have I received such appalling service at a bar that I had previously enjoyed visiting. Not worth it for the overpriced drinks and mediocre food. We will not be returning.
Great Sunday lunch at the made over Arkley. Staff attentive and skilled. Sunday lunch superb. Well done all.
